my weird art (thanatobizzare)
Thanatobizzare - An (unofficial) art movement categorized by trauma, death, or other disturbing imagery present within the artwork but an overall inconsistency within the style and types of works.
It is heavily influenced by artworks contained in Post-Impressionism, Dadaism, Surrealism, and Anti-Art, and the philosophical ideas of (Neitzschen) Nihilism, Hedonism, and Absurdism. Much of the works contained within it are Anti-Religious, Anti-Government, and/or Queer in nature. It is semi-intentionally spelled incorrectly.
There are next to no set rules or guidelines to Thanatobizzare, nor are there any restrictions in forms of media that can be considered a part of it. Restricting an artist’s style is against the nature of the movement.
Someone who creates art in the genre of Thanatobizzare is a Thanatobizzarist.
Influential Artists: Tristan Tzara, Antonin Artaud, Luis Buñuel, Marcel Duchamp, Hieronymus Bosch, René Magritte
Influential Philosophers: Diogenes, Friedrich Nietzsche, Wilfred Bion (Bizarre Objects), McKenzie Wark
Thanatobizzare is the word I use to describe the non-fanart works I create, and was made by me when I figured that there wasn’t really a word for what I create. It’s not a word that I want people outside of myself and some close friends to use, however, unless it manages to gain traction of some kind.
You can go see all of my thanatobizzares over on chrnbylart on Tumblr, and I'm working on porting it all to a cohost account.
