Wiimotes are kind of a sore thumb when compared to other controllers - this big ass twinkie with all but one button visible, with a wriststrap or a nunchuck attached to it. For me, it was never comfortable to use two-handed, and I think it worked far better on just pure motion controls. Despite the million different attachments for the Wiimote itself, I think the beast in its purest form is the most interesting.
I didn't do a whole lot of Wii gaming when I was growing up, but I do remember playing a LOT of Just Dance. Mostly the time I slammed my hand against a table that was behind me. I also had a Wii balance board that I used for a Shaun White snowboarding game.. I wasn't very good at it, but it holds the same place in my mind as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater does for other people.
